John,
In the Carpenter Family Bible, printed 1818, was listed of Carpenter Family, and copied by hand by an Aunt on the early 70's. There may exist a Court document record of a Suit against Ben Jr, brought by a Merchantile, and debt paid by Ben Sr. That information may be in the hands of a different cousin, and if it exists would be simpler to attain. Although it links the two, I do not believe it documents them as Father/Son.

Thomas Bedford Carpenter was born in 1835 and we have fairly strong linkage for him to John Wesley Carpenter. Thomas Bedford Carpenter married Nicey Bell Sharp whose family also lived at Thompson’s Creek, less than a mile from T. S. Carpenter’s 1878 home. The DNA is inconclusive in this as we had no solid DNA linkages to John Wesley Carpenter or Thomas Bedford. T. S. Carpenter’s first born son was named Thomas Bedford Carpenter adding to the circumstantial evidence that John Carpenter you mention may well have been Temple’s brother.

John W. Carpenter
Birth: Sep. 25, 1806
Death: Oct. 12, 1838
Texas, USA
Veteran of the Battle of San Jacinto
He was killed about four miles east of present-day Palestine, in an Indian skirmish prior to the main Battle of Kickapoo, brought back to the Ft. Houston Cemetery and buried here.
This historic cemetery was fenced with a fence of native stone and cedarlogs by the Fort Houston Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas
in 1941, with the native rock gateway completed the following year. OnDecoration Day 1942, various honor guests joined the local dignitaries inholding a joint ceremony dedicating the stone gateway, a large native rock memorial stone at the graves of the seventeen soldiers of the Texas Revolution, and a memorial stone on the site of Fort Houston itself.
The soldiers' plot (about 70' x 16') was a double-row plot and marked with cement corner benches. The large native boulder with its granite marker inscribed "The Soldiers of the Republic of Texas buried therein" was placed in the center of the plot.
Since then, there has been continuous research to identify these previously unknown soldiers. Two of them were found to be veterans of the Battle of San Jacinto .

Notes: In the summer of 1838, the new Republic of Texas was tested by rebel forces from Northern Mexico who were stirring up the Indian tribes to continue the war against the white settlers. This was called the "Cordova Rebellion." Texas Ranger companies were organized to fight the depredations by Indian and Mexican rebels. On October 12, 1838, Major Leonard Mabbitt left Fort Houston with a force of volunteer rangers to attack a band of Indians and Mexicans led by two lieutenants of Cordova. About six miles from the fort the rangers were attacked. Private John W. Carpenter, a San Jacinto veteran who had joined only a week earlier, pursued a Caddo chief into the woods. The ranger private and the chief shot it out about a mile from the scene and killed each other. Privates Julius Bullock, Thomas M. Scott and John Wilson were also killed. Two other rangers, First Corporal David F. Webb and Private Lacey McKenzie, were wounded. The dead rangers were transported back to Fort Houston. They were buried in an unmarked grave in the Fort Houston cemetery. On the morning of October 16, 1838, Major General Rusk and Major Babbitt had a combined force of about 260 rangers who were attacked by an estimated 150 to 600 rebels. No rangers were killed outright, but 13 were wounded. Private James Hall was badly wounded, but the doctor felt he would pull through. The wounded men were transported back to Fort Houston. Private Hall died from his wounds on December 17, 1838, and he was buried in an unmarked grave in the fort’s cemetery. No personal information is known at this time about the men. The Texas Historical Commission erected a marker recognizing the “Kickapoo War.” The marker is located on Highway 19 south of the town of Frankston in northeastern Anderson County.

John Everett Parker
Birth: 1822
North Carolina, USA
Death: Aug., 1889
Grayson County
Texas, USA
Lived at Tennessee Colony, near Palestine, Anderson Co, TX. He was a farmer. Was married to Elizabeth Hester 30 Mar 1851 in Anderson Co. (Elizabeth was born in NC, TX and died 19 Dec 1853, one week after Richard Henry Parker was born. Cuzzie Elizabeth was 25 months of age.
Info provided by Velma Parker Ratliff, daughter of Clyde Parker, gd of John Everett Parker, in a published history book of Murray County, OK, now out of print and exact book title not known:
When Dick was seven days old, his mother died. They were living in Tennessee Colony, Anderson County, Texas (near Palestine). John made the decision to go to Virginia to get his parents to help raise the small children. Daughter Cuzzie was left with family and new born Dick was left with friends. John traveled to Virginia in a covered wagon, which took a year. Whenever he returned, he found that the friends had moved and took baby Dick with them.
John took a job on a ferry and asked each passenger if they knew the family. It took three years, but he did find the family and recovered Dick. The family had grown to love Dick so much, they ran away with him.
Mt Zion Cemetery is near the ghost town of Dexter, Grayson Co., TX. Many families lived around Dexter for years and then moved to Davis, OK.
On October 17, 1860, he married Mary Ann Elizabeth Carpenter (26 Oct 1837, St Augustine Co., TX and died soon after Clyde's birth in 1876).

Ferguson died and then moved to Davis with her family. Family records reflect he died in Texas, and since his son Richard Henry Parker is buried here, it is assumed he is buried at Mt Zion in an unmarked grave. Faye Bradford shared information that " Enoch was a brother to my 3rd great grandfather Hensley Carpenter. Family records state only that Enoch and Sarah were buried in a small cemetery in a field close to the old Presb. Church on Old Brick Rd."
======================
Enoch lead a wagon train of 13 wagons from Amherst Va. To Franklin Co. Alabama.
James Carpenter and his 2nd wife Mahala Mays came with them.  This was around 1812.  James was my great, great, great grandfather.

=============================
I just wanted to let you know that the cemetery that Enoch and relatives are buried in is listed as the "Wilkerson Family Cemetery" on the 1933 WPA Cemetery survey.  It reported as being on the "Wilkerson Place" and located "behind J.C. Holt's home in front of the Old Brick Church in Colbert Co., AL."  I didn't realize that they had been listed as buried in a "Carptenter Cemetery" and had created & listed them in the Wikerson cemetery.  I'm in the process of deleting the memorials now, but thought you might want the original cemetery name (at least it was in 1933). http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=mr&MRid=47080657
