Funeral services for Temple S. Carpenter, Jr., 75, of Longview, will be 2 p.m. Thursday, March 5, 2009, in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home. Interment will follow in White Cemetery with military honors.
Mr. Carpenter died Monday afternoon, March 2, 2009, in a Longview hospital.
A native of Shreveport, Louisiana, he was born March 27, 1933, to Temple S. Carpenter Sr. and Nell E. Heard Carpenter. He graduated from White Oak High School, received his BBA from North Texas State University and received his Master's from Troy University. Mr. Carpenter retired as a traffic manager from the U.S. Air Force, having served in Korea and Vietnam.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandsons, Christopher Allen and Corey Arbon Carpenter. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Emma; sons, Temple Carpenter III and wife Sandra of Longview, and Steve Carpenter and wife Cindy of Longview; grandchildren, April and husband Ssgt Gary Weber of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Ssgt Todd Steven Carpenter and wife Alexandra of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and Brandon Bussey of Longview; great-grandchildren, Waylon Rhedd Weber of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Garret and Gage Bussey of Longview. Also the mother of his children, LaJuan Lowe Carpenter of Longview.

Vernice Anne Carpenter Tisdale, 65, of Goshen died Oct. 22, 1999, at her home.

She was born July 20, 1934, at Reynolds Mountain in Madison County to Charlie
Morgan and Golda Reynolds Carpenter. She was a member of Goshen United Methodist
Church and a charter member of the Goshen Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 614.
She had been active in many community projects. She was preceded in death by her
parents, and by one son, Bobby Tisdale.

Survivors include her husband, James Darrel Tisdale of Goshen; one son, Karl
Brent Tisdale of Goshen; two grandchildren, Joshua Morgan Tisdale Brice and
Amanda Allison Tisdale Brice, both of Puunene, Hawaii; two sisters, Shirley
Ledbetter and husband Bob of Huntsville and Verna Bennett and husband Boyd of
Hindsville; two brothers, Claud Carpenter and wife Dorothy of Fayetteville and
Larry Carpenter and wife Eulena of Forum; several nieces, nephews and many
friends of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Goshen Church of the Nazarene with the
Rev. Don Eubanks and the Rev. Peter Kimball officiating.

Burial will be in Goshen Cemetery under the direction of Moore's Chapel of
Fayetteville.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Moore's.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Goshen United
Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 1, Goshen, 72735, or the Order of the
Eastern Star Building Fund, P.O. Box 1, Goshen, 72735.

Pallbearers will be Bob Gipson, Dale Ezell, Doug Dobbyn, Dallas Hale, Bert
Langley and Chester McElhaney.
