James Ronald Carpenter, 94 of Newbern, Tennessee died on Monday, February 13, 2017, at Tennessee Veterans Home in Humboldt, Tennessee.

Born Thursday, October 12, 1922 in Dyer County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late James Edward Carpenter and the late Virgie Tempe Williams Carpenter.

He was a retired farmer and retired rural mail carrier.

Mr. Carpenter was a member of the Center United Methodist Church and proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM on Friday, February 17, 2017 in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Mr. Larry Carpenter and Rev. Dan Tilly. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.

He is survived by one son, Danny Carpenter (Nika) of Newbern, Tennessee; one brother, Glen Carpenter (Joyce) of Newbern, Tennessee; his daughter-in-law, Marsha Dorgan-Carpenter of Murray, Kentucky;four grandchildren, Carrie Butler (Randy), Collin Carpenter (Elizabeth), Megan Carpenter and Michelle Coulston (Ben) and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Lowrance Carpenter; one son, Dr. Mickey Carpenter; his twin brother, Ralph Carpenter and one grandson, Rusty Carpenter.

Pallbearers will be Collin Carpenter, Randy Butler, Nikalas Butler, Jerry Carpenter, Larry Carpenter and Ronnie Weatherly.

The family ask that memorials be directed to Center United Methodist Church, % Mrs. Pat Carpenter, 506 Nora Drive, Newbern, Tennessee 38059.
