Kelsey K. Carpenter, 79, of Bloomington, died at 11:50 a.m. Wednesday (Nov. 13, 1996) at his residence. He had been ill for two years.
He was born May 12, 1917 in Moorseburg, Tennessee, the son of James and Sarah Orrick Carpenter.
He married Ellen M. Swearingen Sept. 24, 1938 in St. Louis.
Surviving are his wife; one sister, Martha Lamb and many nieces and nephews.
His parents, six sisters and four brothers preceded him in death.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and served in the Army's Department of Finance.

Henry C. Hodge, 90, of Rutledge died Tuesday, March 25, at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare.
A member of New Prospect Baptist Church for 47 years, he was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Love Hodge; parents; three brothers, and one sister.
Surviving are daughters, Barbara S. Samsel and Charlotte Purkey of Bean Station and Shirley Short of Morristown; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Stubblefield Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Crews and Rev. Frank Spoon officiating.
Burial was in Helton Cemetery."
