NORTH LIBERTY - Dovie Whitaker, 91, formerly of North Liberty, passed away Sunday, December 13, 2015 at Millers Merry Manor in Walkerton after an extended illness.Mrs. Whitaker was born February 8, 1924 in Jackson, KY. She was a lifetime resident of the North Liberty area.
On November 20, 1943 in Knox, IN as Dovie Carpenter she married the late Robert “Blue Rock” Whitaker; he preceded her in death December 1, 2010.
Dovie is survived by her two sisters, Sue and Faye; also sister-in-law, Pauline (Allen) Rockhill of South Bend and Jean (George) Gyori of South Bend, and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank everyone at Millers Merry Manor for the outstanding care and love given to Dovie.
There will be no visitation; graveside services only will take place at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, December 16th at Sumption Prairie Cemetery with Pastor Tim Stewart officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Millers Merry Manor, 500 Walkerton Trail, Walkerton, IN 46574 or to the North Liberty American Legion Post #365 in Dovie's memory.

Aug. 15, 1918 - Dec. 1, 2010NORTH LIBERTY - Robert M. "Blue Rock" Whitaker, 92, of North Liberty, passed away at 10:55 a.m. Wednesday, December 1 in Miller's Merry Manor Nursing Center, Walkerton, IN, after an extended illness.
Mr. Whitaker was born on August 15, 1918 in Salyersville, Kentucky. He resided in the area during his lifetime.
On November 20,1943, in Knox, IN, he married the former Dovie Carpenter who survives.
Also surviving are four sisters, Sherry Pauline (Allan) Rockhill of South Bend, IN, Jean (George) Gyori of Granger, IN, Christine (Stan) Novachewski of South Bend, IN, and Aileen Davidson of South Bend, IN.
Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Whitaker was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Maxine Szucs.
He always went by his nickname "Blue Rock" as he was known by numerous friends and the Law Enforcement Community. He retired in 1987 from the Walkerton Police Dept. after many years of service. Prior to that, he was a police office in North Liberty starting back in the 1950's. He was also a US Army veteran of WW II, and very proud of his Military service. He was a member of the North Liberty American Legion Post 365 and the North Liberty VFW Post 1954 along with the Crumstown Conservation Club, and the FOP Lodge #130 in Marshall County. Mr. Whitaker was an honorable man, a dedicated officer who cared and helped so many people. His kindness will never be forgotten. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Dovie and his wonderful family who shared so much love during his courageous battle with cancer.
The family wants to thank everyone at the Miller's Merry Manor Nursing Home for the outstanding care and love given to Mr. Whitaker.
There will be no visitation hours, a graveside service only at 11:30 a.m. Friday, December 3, 2010, at Sumption Prairie Cemetery. The North Liberty American Legion and the VFW will conduct Military Services.
The family would like all memorial contributions be made to the Marshall county Hospice.

Ida Ritchie, age 85, resident of rural Plymouth passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at MedCentral Shelby Hospital. She was born December 14, 1925 in Jackson, Kentucky to the late Kenny and Nancy (Stacy) Carpenter and had resided in Shelby moving to Plymouth in 1967. Mrs. Ritchie was a 1946 graduate of Breathitt High School in Jackson, Kentucky. She enjoyed quilting, sewing and reading.She is survivied by her husband, Roy Ritchie whom she wed January 22, 1946; four sons, Kenneth (Paula) Ritchie of Shelby; Roger "Buck" (Linda) Ritchie of Shelby; Frank (Wendie) Ritchie of Mansfield; and Kevin Ritchie of Mansfield; one daughter, Nancy Burkett of Plymouth; nine grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; five sisters, Dovie Whitacker of North Liberty, KY; Sarah Fensch of Mansfield; Sue Yosick of Shelby; Faye Shepherd of Jackson, KY; Doshia Fugate of Campton, KY; numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Bill Burkett in 2005; four brothers and two infant sisters.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in Plymouth, Ohio on Monday, April 18, 2011 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM where the funeral will be at 1:00 PM with Pastor Doug Tackett officiating. Roy Ritchie, age 87, resident of Plymouth, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at the MedCentral Shelby Hospital. He was born on March 16, 1924 in McGoffin County, Kentucky to the late Silas and Nellie (Risner) Ritchie and was a Shelby resident for 17 years before moving to Plymouth in 1967. Mr. Ritchie was employed by the former Wilkins Air Force Depot, A.M.F., Galion Iron Works, the Chrystler Boat Company and Myca Products of Shelby. He was a member of the Wesley Evangelical Church in Shiloh and enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting.He is survived by four sons and three daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Paula Ritchie of Shelby; Roger "Buck" and Linda Ritchie of Shelby; Frank and Wendie Ritchie of Mansfield; Kevin Ritchie of Mansfield; one daughter, Nancy Burkett of Plymouth; nine grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Ida (Carpenter) Ritchie whom he wed on January 22, 1946; his parents; four brothers; two sisters and one son-in-law Bill Burkett.
Friends may call at the Secor Funeral Home in Plymouth, Ohio on Monday, June 20, 2011 from 11:00AM. to 1:00 PM. The funeral will follow the calling hours at 1:00 PM. with Pastor Doug Tackett officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Shiloh, Ohio. www.secorfuneralhomes.com

"KENNETH A. YOSICK"SHELBY: Kenneth A. Yosick, age 83, resident of Shelby, died Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
Born June 12, 1931 in Shelby to Frank and Lillian (Soldan) Yosick he had been a lifelong Shelby resident. A 1949 graduate of Shelby High School, he served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict.
Ken was employed with the former Wilkins Air Force Depot, Miller Products and Alex Murray Construction and was a 38 year employee of PPG Industries in Crestline retiring in 1982. He was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church and the American Legion O'Brien Post #326. A bingo enthusiast, he enjoyed bird watching and cherished the time spent with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Susie (Carpenter) Yosick, whom he wed November 8, 1952; two sons, David (Frances) Yosick of Bellville and Richard (Kathy) Yosick of Columbia, South Carolina; two daughters, Ruth (Tim) Detillion of Shelby and Diana (Jim) Haley of Shelby; 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Paul (Rosanna) Yosick of Fairborn, Ohio, John (Aline) Yosick of Huntington Beach, California, and Thomas (Doris) Yosick of Hanover, Pennsylvania; two sisters, Sister Irene Yosick, O.S.F. of Shelby; and Joan Courtney of Grove City, Ohio, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Yosick, Jr. in 1982, his daughter, Annette Borgelt in 1983, grandson, Richard "Ricky" Yosick, Jr.; great-grandson, Troy Lee Detillion, two brothers, Dennis and Robert Yosick, twin sisters, Patricia Lysinger and Sister Martha Ann Yosick, sister-in-law, Janice Yosick and brother-in-law, Thomas Courtney.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 19, 2014 at the Barkdull Funeral Home in Shelby. Father James Sanford will officiate with interment to follow in Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Memorial expressions may be made in Kenneth's memory to the American Cancer Society .

Sarah Ann Fensch, 80, of Mansfield, died Monday, October 20, 2014 after a short illness. Born October 14, 1934 in Lunah, KY, she was the daughter of Kenny and Nancy (Stacy) Carpenter. Sarah retired from United Telephone Company. After the death of her husband, Richard in 1989 who she cared for through his cancer for 13 years, Sarah continued to be a very independent person doing her own housekeeping and landscaping up until just last month. Her children and grandchildren were the lights of her life and she enjoyed cooking for them making the best fried chicken. Sarah also would provide motherly or grandmotherly love to anyone who needed it. Her pride and joy was crocheting and she loved giving afghans as gifts, probably giving more than 100 over the years.She is survived by her sons, Steven (Nancy) Fensch of Crestline and David (Melissa) Fensch of Stow; daughters, Vicki Templeman of Shelby and Diana (Judson) Prosser of Shiloh; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and sisters, Sue (Kenneth) Yosick of Shelby, Faye (Raleigh) Shepherd of Jackson, KY, and Dovie Whitaker of Indiana.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Fensch and numerous brothers and sisters.
The family would like to express a special thanks to the nurses and doctors in the oncology department at OhioHealth MedCentral Hospital for their wonderful care of Sarah.
Graveside services conducted by Pastor Joe Stafford will be held Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Mansfield Memorial Park. Friends are welcome to gather at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd., Ontario at 12:30 p.m. to process to the cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to MedCentral Hospice.
