Carpenter, Jessie Jane, born March 3, 1908, died at Jefferson Memorial Hospital June 3, 1981 at the age of 73 years, 3 months. She professed faith in Christ in her late teens and joined Cedar Springs Missionary Baptist Church. She married Lewis L. Carpenter in 1929 and to this union were born four children. She was preceded in death by her husband Oct. 9, 1966. She is survived by three sons, L. C., Roy Henry of Bean Station, Carroll L. Of Rutledge, daughter, Mrs. Frank (Mary Ruth) Whitt of Bean Station, two stepdaughters, Louise Bible of Morristown, Blanche Collins of Bean Station, one niece, Lucille Finsterwald of California, two nephews, Delmer Carpenter of Knoxville and J. T. Carpenter of Morristown, 13 grandchildren ,11 great grandchildren, 5 cousins, a host of friends and loved ones to mourn her passing. Funeral services were conducted at Clinch dale Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Cruze, Hugh Jarnigan and Rev. Herbert Coffey Singers, were the Hipshire Quartet. Edna Ruth Maratellos, 64, of Morristown died Tuesday, June 7, at Morristown-Hamblen Hospital.
Daughter of the late John and Eula Samsel, she is survived by her son, Anthony Maratellos of Morristown; sisters, Linda Jarnagin and Mary McClanahan of Bean Station, and special friend, Norma Scholz of Nebraska.
Funeral services were held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown with Rev. J. Arnold Greene officiating.
Burial was in Jarnagin Cemetery."

Norma was a member of West Park Baptist Church and is preceded in death by her parents, Lon and Bertha Carpenter, and her husband, Donald Fitzpatrick. Norma is survived by her daughters and their families: Rhonda Nelson of Maryville with her children, Darren Nelson and Rebecca Maples, and Jeff and Terri Rains, missionaries to Ecuador and their children, Nathanael, Kaitlyn and Abigail. The graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Flowers may be sent to Berry Funeral Home. Condolences may be offered at www.berryfuneralhome.com. ROGERSVILLE -- Elsie Carpenter Elkins, age 87, died Saturday, April 1, 2000, at Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center, Kingsport.
She was born in Claiborne County to the late W.M. and Nancy Mullins. She was a member of Howes Chapel Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Landon Carpenter and Leo Prescott; six brothers, Ben Mullins, Herman Mullins, Joe Mullins, Emmit (Dad) Mullins, Ance Mullins, Wilson Mullins, Wiley Mullins; and sisters, Arlena Reece and Roxie Reece.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Bernice and Don Bellamy, Rogersville; a son and daughter-in-law, Dwight and Gloria Carpenter; San Antonio, TX; four granddaughters, Sharon Hale, Dolores Carpenter, Diane Carpenter and Leslie Carpenter; a grandson, Dwight Carpenter Jr.; great-grandsons, Douglas Carpenter, Adam Tracy; great-granddaughters, Clarice Carpenter and Virginia Hale; two brothers, Oda Mullins, Rogersville, and Burt Mullins, Kingsport; and a sister, Ruby Eidson, Surgoinsville.
Funeral services will be held 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2000, at Colboch-Price Chapel, with Revs. Ray Mullins and Edward Johnson officiating. Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, April 6, 2000, at Hawkins County Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends 6 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the services at Colboch-Price Funeral Home, Rogersville.
