Oh, BTW... I looked at your Carpenter list figuring I'd come across some Beasleys. I found a couple of dozen including variants. I found three that I recognized right away:
77839 Beasley, Temprance Ophelia Edison Abt 1839 6 Jan 1919 S 28947 Jonas "Mac" B McNair-77836
147635 Beazley, James M. Abt 1797 51630 Mary B. Carpenter-147634 S
137702 Beazley, Sarah Abt 1766 33713 Matthew Carpenter-91334
The first one is a small Beezley construction based on the "Reel Bible" transcribed. At the head of the Beezley side id Benjamin Beezley Sr 1757-1813 m Temperance Ayres 1777-1856. They had three recorded children, Emily, Martha, and Benjamin Jr. Emily died young and Martha married Abraham Reel, the family responsible for the Bible. Benjamin Jr m Catherin Coffman and had one child, Temperance Ophelia Beezley who married Jonas Benjamin McNair. I didn't discover where the Carpenter connection as my main interest was the Descendants of Benjamin Sr. The only line reaching the 20th century was Martha's.
Mary Carpenter married into our largest Haplotype, presumably. We don't have YDNA confirmation but name and location are convincing. So far, all with Beazley spelling are part of the Yellow Group. James' grandfather was Ephraim Beazley 1735- ~1800. He is likely grandson of the EKA of this lineage who came to Old Rappahannock County VA in the last half of the 17th century.
Sarah Beazley was the daughter of Ephraim Beasley 1735.
There are probably more that I could find, but that would take a deeper search.

12. William Carpenter

GROUP 7 - Carpenter Cousins Y-DNA Project - DETACHED GENEALOGICALLY.
COMMENT:
While DNA testing shows they are genetically related to Group 7, proof is lacking that this William Carpenter was the son of Jonathan C-135818. What little evidence that does exist implies that William C-147585 is the correct son. Two descendants of this William C-140344 who have Y-DNA tested have a DYS390=26 marker in common. This is currently not shared by anyone else in Group 7. Thus this line is detached, but still part of Group 7 genetically.

NOTE: There is another William was in Virginia who is more likely Jonathan's. Descendants from the NC line have been very persistent in trying to connect their William to Jonathan of Still Run, but they have given no proof.

Subject: Re: Nathaniel Carpenter line -
John,
... The claim of descent of this line from Dr. Nathaniel Carpenter goes back to the late 1800s when a story was circulated in America that Carpenter descendants could inherit an English family fortune, which turned out to be a scam to make money for lawyers hired to find and "prove" the American heir -- not the first time this kind of scam was run, as you know.
The family proceeded to claim that their ancestor William Carpenter was actually William Fauntleroy Carpenter. However, William Fauntleroy Carpenter was born c1775 and was killed in London in Aug 1796 at the age of 21 and unmarried, so he could not be in this lineage.
A lot of research was put into this line by descendant Donna Jo Wright in the 1980s, including hiring the noted British genealogist Peter Wilson Coldham, and they thoroughly debunked the claimed relationship to Dr. Nathaniel Carpenter and William Fauntleroy Carpenter. See this 4 Sep 1999 post of Louis Carpenter (#31891) to the Rootsweb CARPENTER-L list, , stating "Family legend and a great deal of misinformation on the Net shows "William Fauntleroy Carpenter" to be the father of Isaac linking them to the Cornwall Carpenters of Dr. Nathaniel Carpenter of VA and his brother Corynden Carpenter of Cornwall who left a substantial fortune. My cousin, Donna Jo Wright, along with others hired Peter Wilson Coldham to research this problem when an affidavit of David Carpenter, son of Isaac, surfaced in a trunk in the early 1980's. This affidavit was an attempt to claim Corynden's fortune although the Chancery court denied the claim for lack of evidence.
This research is published in an article by Coldham in the National Genealogical Society Quarterly. I believe it is in the Winter 1985 edition. Our research has led me to believe that Isaac is a descendant of the Tidewater Carpenters." ...

Thanks for this also -- This John (SEE DATA ABOVE) was son of Joseph Carpenter
who died in King George Co. VA.  Rebecca (also spelled Rebekah) was an "old
maid", age 36 and unmarried, at the time he deeded her his homeplace,
and he probably expected she would never marry and would need the place
to support herself, however, she married at the age of 49 in
Westmoreland Co. VA, in 1834.  This is a line that I have been
collecting data on, hoping some day to place them among the Tidewater VA
lines.   --- Terry

Subject: Carpenter-Brackin link in NC
John,
I was poking around the net tonight looking for William P. Brackin b 1855 who married Nancy Carpenter b 1841, daughter of WBC. I found a William Brackin b 1749 (obviously not the one who married Nancy) at . In the notes for WB it says...
3. A land deed dated April 19, 1785 from William Brackin to John Carpenter, both of the State of North Carolina and County of Anson, for 200 acres of land situated on Cribbs Creek, in the amount of 60 pounds specie money. [Recorded in Book 4, Page 276.]
I have no clue on who the above JC was, but perhaps this might help in research on Benjamin [Sampson] Carpenter's line. Good news is there's a (pre-BSC?) connection between Carpenter and Brackin in NC, which has always been a possible location for BSC's line. Bad news is there is no connection noted at this site between William Brackin b 1749 and 'our' William P. Brackin b 1855.
Mathias Mack Brackin b 1822 can be found at the same site . He was the father of Charity E. Brackin Carpenter and William P. Brackin, though the site does not provide info on WPB's marriage to Nancy.

COMMENT: 1813 - B.S. Carpenter and John M. Carpenter signers.
Simeon Sylvest was one of the six signers of the Articles of Corporation of Mount Nebo Baptist Church of St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana situated several miles North and East of Amite, Louisiana in what is now Tangipahoa Parish. The other five signers are George W. Addison, B.S. Carpenter, John M. Carpenter,Thos. D. Zachary and William Sanders. No date for this signing was given. This record was found in Baptist Church records for Southeastern Louisiana. In this book there was the claim that Mount Nebo Baptist Church is the oldest non-Catholic church in Louisiana outside of the city of New Orleans. The date was 1813.

The web page you cited provides new data and links your John M. to B. S. (Samuel “Burrell”) Carpenter and as Samuel Christopher Carpenter. Sadly the source material is not present. I hope you get in contact with the author.
From the tripod web page regarding: III Simeon Sylvest. I extract the following as a COMMENT into notes.

MORE:
It is believed that Mary Jane came from a family of six children. John Carpenter [John M.] is said to have had two brothers and they were the sons of Samuel Christopher. Her family was to have included an older sister named Georgia Eva who was married to Walter Fountain and they had four children. A brother Preston Morgan Carpenter was married to Maggie Varnado and they had three children. Mary Jane had a sister named Charity who married a Mr. Brooks and raised a family then she had still another sister, Susan Carpenter who married Leander Stevens and raised a family in and around Amite, Louisiana.
IF the above is correct ...
Samuel Christopher Carpenter (RIN 174161) aka “Burrell” “B.S.” & a brother John M. Carpenter - alive in 1813.
| John M. (174127) - Brother 1 - Brother 2 <---- I have Lawrence M., John G. and Burrell Samuel Jr as brothers.

14. William Carpenter

NOTE:
A Descendant tested as part of Group 8 of the Carpenter Cousins Y-DNA Project.

NOTE:
Carolyn Spence of Trinity, NC in a letter dated 8 Mar 1999, updated this
line.   She believes that the data for this William Carpenter (who is listed
in the Ancestral File as dying on 26 Nov. 1832 in Surry County, NC) is in error.
She says the following Will she found provides information that
William died in 1859 and not 1832.

WILL: Will of William Carpenter from Surry County NC Will book # 5 page 46.
I think this William was the father of Buck Carpenter.
WILL OF WILLIAM CARPENTER (dated) 4 JAN 1859
My body shall be decently buried and my funeral charges and just debts be paid
by executor.  My two youngest daughters Nancy Carpenter and Frances Carpenter
get my tract of land whereon I now live divided as follows: Beginning at a
forked pine the west corner of said land, then runs southeast to a white oak
the beginning corner of said tract, the south side of said land and of said
tract I give to my daughter Nancy and the north side  together with the mill I
give to my daughter Frances.  Also, my daughters Nancy and Frances all my
household and kitchen furniture to be equally divided between them and one cow
each.  Son John Carpenter gets my blacksmith tools.  The balance of my property
is to be sold and equally divided between all my lawful heirs.  Executor:
Frances Carpenter.
Witnesses: Jonathan J. McMickle and Joseph Isaacks.  Proved by J J McMickle.
Probate Aug term 1860.
William was last found in the 1850 Surry census with a daughter Frances 19,
Mandy which is probably Nancy mispelled, and a child named  Rhudy which was
probably Rhody mispelled.  John lived nearby and was already a blacksmith,
indicating to me that John was using his fathers tools, and the Will above gave
the instruments to John outright.
Since a wife was not named in this Will written in 1859, she had died prior to
Jan 1859.

15. Benjamin Carpenter

Y-DNA:
Group 8 - Some have claimed, that this Benjamin (aka Benjamin Samson) Carpenter-145367 belongs in Group 8 genealogically. This supposedly through John G. Carpenter-145394 (FTDNA # 33253) and William Bailey "Bill" Carpenter-145389 (FTDNA #s 27552, 22317 and 23654).
BUT, a descendant on this Benjamin Carpenter line who Y-DNA tested does NOT match Group 8 genetically. Their Y-DNA is significantly different and they were placed in Group 98.
Group 98 - One descendant via son Samson Carpenter-145368 (FTDNA# 37808) does not match the Group 8 genetics.  Possible Non-Paternal Event (NPE) on his line?  YES!  NPE confirmed.

NOTE:
Alabama was a territory in 1817 and became a state in 1819.
Dale County, AL was created in 1824 from Covington and Henry Counties.

NAME:
Benjamin Samson Carpenter in the PRF, but no proof given for Samson. See below.
Where did Samson come from?

CHILDREN:
Ancestry.com has a Benjamin Carpenter - Birth abt 1824 in Covington Co., AL who is listed as a son of this Benjamin.  BUT ... That child has a birth in Covington County where another Carpenter line is identified.  So I believe the Ancestry son Benjamin is not on the line we are looking at.
That Benjamin married Mary Emaline Trevathen (Trevor?) 1829 – 1922 and had children:
Susan Elizabeth "Lizzie Beth" Carpenter 1848 – 1913 and Mary Ann Carpenter 1851 – 1901 .

Hello CUZ, THESE LISTED ON YOUR PAGE ARE MY GGGRANDMOTHER! The Second Seminole War ended in 1842 but the Third Seminole War will start in 1855. If you seek CARPENTER ancestors who would be of fighting age in 1855, check for military records. SARAH ELIZABETH CARPENTER was my gggrandmother and the sister to the above names in Coffee County, AL. Sarah Elizabeth Carpenter b. Nov 13, 1838, AL d. Oct 1, 1912 married George Washington NELSON b. Feb 08, 1824, AL; d. May 19, 1892. They are both buried in Antioch Church Cemetery, Coffee Co. AL. They had 13 children County, FL. Sarah Elizabeth Carpenter was daughter of William Baily Carpenter b. 1808 SC and died Oct 30, 1883 AL. He married Rebecca Savannah Donaldson 1832 in AL. She was born about 1815 in SC and died Apr 1884, AL. (I trying to find more info on Rebecca, perhaps you have it?) mother of my grandfather Benjamin David (called "Buck") Nelson that married Elizabeth "Polly" Rushing (daughter of "Off" Rushing) in Coffee County, AL. They were farmers and had huge plantation farms. They had 13 children. And my grandmother Minnie was their daughter; Minnie Viola Nelson b. Feb 5, 1894 d. Jan 1987 m. James Oscar Hataway on Nov 22, 1914 Coffee Co, AL. He was born 1892, AL d. Dec 16, 1957 in Polk Co, Fl. Minnie and James moved from Coffee Co, AL in 1914 to Winter Haven, Polk Sarah Elizabeth Carpenter's father William Bailey Carpenter was son of Benjamin Samson Carpenter b. 1771 d. 1836 in Dale Co, Al. He married Milly C ? (do you have her last name?) 1806. she was born 1780 in SC and died after 1850. I need any info you have from Benjamin back if you have it. I'd love to share all the info I have with you. Jeanette Henderson would also be a cousin to you. She works at the Alabama Musuem. Her gggrandmother is a daughter of Sarah's brother JOHN G. CARPENTER listed above in the text I copied from your site! His daughter Zylphia Carpenter is Jeanette's gggrandmother. And do you know Gina Smith Clark, she's also a cousin, her grandmother and my grandmother were sisters! Forgive me if I get excited, that's what this is ALL about isn't it? I'm so thrilled to have found you!!!!! Please contact me as soon as you can, my email is shoops@@bigsky.net Tiffany Shoop Hi, I forgot to tell you that the Carpenters crossed over going back into my father's Pettit line and my ggrandmother Rushing's lines and the Brashears lines as well which was my 5th greatgrandmother lines, too. Therefore, so of the other Carpenter lines cross over into my family as well on four occassions in my ancestry. And there's a Cherokee and Creek native americans line of Carpenters too. In it there's a Sarah (Sallie) Harlen instead of Harlan, just to give you so idea. I will find the other info on James Warren Carpenter and send them too. Tiffany at shoops@@bigsky.net Hello Probable Cousin Tiffany ! This is an exciting hobby isn't it? I too am thrilled to meet you. However, before I let myself get carried away, let me tell you that I cannot prove some of my line. I have my grandfather's line which is from Thomas b abt 1780 >James Warren Sr b.1813 GA d.AL > Zach T. b 1850AL d.AL> John Warren b. AL d. AL >John Barney b. AL (my grandfather). The other CARPENTER line is through my grandmother. Her grandfather was a CRUISE and his wife was Rosa Frances "Fannie" CARPENTER the daughter of James J. CARPENTER b.abt 1809 (possibly a doctor) who married Mildred SEAY b. 1806 VA. Years later Mildred CARPENTER (Seay) is listed in the census living with her daughter Fannie. Looks like James J. died in the war or at least before the 1860 census. Since James J. and William S. CARPENTER both bought land in Talladega Co in 1839, I "assumed" they are brothers. NO PROOF but William S w as born about 1805 so I thought it a good guess. Until now. If William "B" (Bailey)was born 1808, it is unlikely there would be two sons both named William. I have not been able to find James J's line but I know from the 1840 Talladega Census that William S. and James J. both came from TENN to ALA. Meanwhile, Rick CARPENTER has the same line as you and I am copying him on this email. Hope I have his correct email address. He can give you a lot of info on your line. Also, I have a possible intersection (broadly interpreted) of the SC>Central AL Carpenter lines (include Reuben Carpenter etc) with my South AL lines and was hoping for your thoughts, however it's from ancestry and I can't verify it.

5      Nancy A. Carpenter, born Nov 22 1820 Coffee Co. AL died Jan 6 1900, buried Pine Level, Coffee Co. AL, married first Jun 18 1851 Pike Co. AL Richard M. Jennings, born 1827 SC or TN died after Jan 1854 AL, married second Calvin Thomas Mitchell, born Nov 1827 Crenshaw Co. AL died 1870 / Jan 1900
·         RMJ son of John Jennings, born 1807
·         CTM son of John William Mitchell, born 1799 AL died AL, married Limestone Co. AL Nancy Sasser, born 1809 Covington Co. AL died Covington Co. AL
·         ?? NS = Nancy Mary Hellenger, born 1809 GA?
·         CTM married first Sarah ___
·         Note: for Mitchell see also Mitcheal, Mixell
Issue of Calvin Thomas Mitchell married Sarah ___…
x5.1      Nancy Elizabeth Mitchell, born May 1849 Covington Co. AL died 1889 Covington Co. AL, married John Washington Branon, born Oct 1 1843 Elba, Coffee Co. AL died Jul 17 1929 Covington Co. AL, buried Kinston, Coffee Co. AL
·         JohnWB married xxx Jan 26 1888 Brantley, Covington Co. AL Susan Louise “Lue” Collinsworth, born Aug 27 1859 Coffee Co. AL died Jun 13 1931 Kinston, Coffee Co. AL, buried Kinston, Coffee Co. AL
·         JohnWB son of James W. Brannen, born Feb 25 1795 Franklin Co. GA died after 1870 Coffee Co. AL, married 1827 Franklin Co. GA Tamara Minerva Carpenter, born 1812 SC or 1808 Burke Co. GA died Coffee Co. AL
·         JamesWBrannen & TMC had children: Cynthia Brannon born 1837; John Washington Brannen born 1843; Susan Brannen/Branum born 1844 Coffee Co. AL died 1895 Aberdeen Monroe Co. MS; Tamara Minerva Brannon; & others
·         Note: for Branon see also Brannon, Brannen, Brannan, Branum, Brannin

Tamara's possible origins from either Burke Co. GA in 1808 or SC in 1812 lead me to believe that she most likely was part of the SC>Central AL lines that included Reuben Carpenter etc. These folk settled mostly to the north of the South AL lines that I am researching. Do you have anything on her and her parents & descendents? Again, this is from ancestry.

16. James M. Carpenter

CAUTION:
See RIN 127966 - who has the same dob but different spouses and who likely lived until at least the 1880 US Census!

FSFT ID#:  KF4K-76H

PARENTS:  listed in FSFT Compare to RIN 127969 who has a James. See CAUTION above.
James F. Carpenter 1782-1829 • L1X5-ST5
Marriage: 18 December 1809  Louisa, Virginia, United States
Susan McGehee  1785-Deceased  • KJPH-DH3
Children of Susan McGehee and James F. Carpenter (7).
Two different sets of paternal grandparents listed in FSFT.

BIRTH:
Most people give 13 Mar 1812 as the birth date. However, the date calculation using the headstone information, as well as it can be read, seems to indicate a birth about 26 June 1812.
This is the reason I am using the "abt" date.
We really need a source for birth date!

NOTE:
The grave marker does not give the birth date. It provides that he died on 12 July 1870 and was Aged "58 yrs. & 16 dys." This works out to have a birth about 26 June 1812.
Yes, the stone is hard to read especially after the appersand (&) mark!
The birth given above on the Find A Grave Record is 13 Mar 1812 and the death is cited as 12 Jul 1870. This calculates out to be 58 years, 3 months and 29 days.
FYI - YES - the stone is very hard to read. YES - the printed calculator chart often ignored leap years and were as only as good as the person making the effort.
NOTE2:
Oakland Cemetery is in South Sugar Creek Township.
