Good Morning,
I have recently begun searching for my family history. According to my mothers birth certificate my grandfathers name was Woodrow (Woody) Wilson Carpenter born in Arkansas about 1917 but moved to California sometime in the mid 1930's. He shows up in the 1940 census in Long Beach, Los Angeles and a have been able to find his enlistment paper for WWII from February 1943. I can't find anything after that. I believe his father was Jasper La Fayette Carpenter born about 1874 in Tennessee. I think Jasper's father was Sim Carpenter botn about 1856 in Georgia.
All of the above I have been able to find since October. I have found nothing about my grandmother Dorothy Morton and I do not believe Morton to be her maiden name. I recently ordered and returned my Family Finder - mtDNA test and am awaiting results. I am completely new to this site and any assistance would be appreciated.
