Death: Apr. 7, 1996 Decatur Daily - April 8, 1996 Jesse Elbert Carpenter Jr. Funeral for Jesse Elbert Carpenter Jr. 69, of Decatur will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Walt Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. Mr. Carpenter died Sunday, April 7, 1996, at his home. Born April 11, 1926, in Morgan County, he was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II. He retired as a crew chief supervisor from Willo Products Co. Inc., after 35 years. He is survived by his wife, Imogene Singleton Carpenter; two sons, Jeffrey Lynn Carpenter and Gregory Keith Carpenter, both of Decatur; three brothers, Bobby Carpenter of Somerville; Don Carpenter of Priceville and Price Earl Carpenter of Whiteville, N.C.; three sisters, Faye Nesmith of Trinity, Louise Alexander of Decatur and Betty Morgan of Decatur; and two grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Bobby Brown, Glen Carpenter, Daryl Nesmith, Paul Wood, Sam Wood, Steve Cooper Singleton, Ray Smith and Clark Russell. Sue Dobyns Carpenter Funeral for Sue Dobyns Carpenter, 58, of Somerville, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Ridout's Brown Service Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Larry Saint officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Mrs. Carpenter died Thursday, November 14, 1996, at Parkway Medical Center Hosptial. She was born March 19, 1938, in Decatur, and employed at Austin Drug for 10 years. She is survived by her husband, Bobby Carpenter Sr; one son, Bobby Carpenter Jr of Decatur; her mother, Seba Dobyns of Decatur; one brother, Johnny Dobyns of Decatur; two sisters, Shirley Shell of Somerville and Kathy Garrison of Decatur; and two granddaughters.
