4398. Benjamin Hosmer Carpenter
They moved to the State of IA in 1845 and resided at Camanche,
Clinton ,IA.
He is connected with the Chicago Record and News. Resided in
Morgan Park,Cook,IL.
He enlisted as quarter-master sergeant, Aug. 6, 1862 in company
K., Captain Bryan, 20th regiment of ,IA infantry; he
accompainied the regiment from Camp Kirkwood, near Clinton,
Clinton,IA, Sept. 1, encamped at Camp Heron, Davenport,
,IA, Sept. 5. They next moved to Benton Barracks, St. Louis;
thence by cars to Rolla; moving soon after to Springfield,
where he became quite indisposed, but continued with the
regiment to Canville, Mo.; then on to Osage Springs, where he
was taken to the hospital and there died.
Probably died as a infant or child. Name not noted.
SPECULATED. NO PROOF GIVEN.

Does anyone have info on the Sereno Ephriam Carpenter family ? The info I have is from a number of sources and I am not sure of the accuracy.
Sereno Ephriam Carpenter was b. 1824 in Sandy Creek, Ny to Asa Carpenter (Rehoboth #3755) and Louisa Wood. Date of death is unknown.
