FATHER NOT PROVEN on this Darwin J. Carpenter.
On one Darwin J. Carpenter - The Carpenter Memorial has parents as John & Polly (Derby) Carpenter.
There was TWO Darwin J. Carpenters! One was born in 1803 and married Emmeline Williams on 31 Jan 1826. The one who was born in 1827 did NOT marry Emmeline Williams as noted in the Carpenter Memorial. The one born in 1827 had parents John & Polly.DEATH: 12 Aug 1863 per the Carpenter Memorial. This is the death date for John Carpenter the father. This does not match this Darwin.

NOTE: Children numbers: 20565, 20566, 20567, & 20568 placed as children with Spouse - Lucina Thompson.
NOTE: Which John Carpenter of two who is the rightful parent of this line is unknown.Probably born in Dover, VT. He had 6 sons and 1 daughter. He probably resided in Dover.
A lease of land and stock was made by Barlow Carpenter to his son John, in July 1817. Barlow then lived in Dover, Windham county, VT, where he probably died. Film #: 442737, Page #: , Ordinance #: 07902E-MAIL: Sun, 20 Feb 2000 From:
Andrea Carpenter
John,
I'm having a hard time with the marriage of John Carpenter to
Lucena Thompson. I have them being married in Dover(Wardboro), Windham,
Vt on Jan, 17, 1813 per LDS batch# 7809601, call#7126269 film. John and
Lucena moved to Coe Ridge Ohio, and had a son Barlow Green Carpenter
named after Barlow Green( father of Martha Green) Barlows mother and
wife of Oliver Carpenter.
The other kids George, etc. all show up in Coe ridge, Ohio. They also had
a son named Jonathan, after the father of Lucena Thompson. Jonathan
Thompson married Pricilla Sears
Also Sarah Goss was born 7 Feb, 1757(date o.k.) in Mendon, Worcester,
Mass daughter of Richard Goss and and Martha Robbins.

Austin and Amy Lydia Downer) Oct 20, 1920 Bennington,Bennington, Vt.
Elizabeth Austin was born Dec 4, 1799 Bennington, Bennington, Vt. Died
Aug 23, 1862 Bennington, Bennington, Vt
children of Richard Carpenter/Elizabeth Austin are
Henry Goss Carpenter b. Sept 27, 1822 Bennington, Bennington, Vt
Edward Austin Carpenter b. Jul 2, 1824 Bennington, Bennington, Vt
John Downer Carpenter b. Jan 14, 1826 Oberlin, Lorain, Oh
Franklin Carpenter b. Feb 2, 1830 Oberlin, Lorain, Ohio
Richard Carpenter b.
Louisa Shewall Carpenter b. Jan 24 1839 Bennington, Bennington,, Vt
d. May 3, 1848 Bennington, Bennington, Vt.
---------------------------------------------------
I know this will either help or confuse the issue. I believe that
Richard went to Ohio with his brother John and then came back to
Bennington. The confusing factor is the land lease grant Barlow gave to
John in 1817.
