Carpenter/Malott descendants MO-KS-Compton, Los Angeles CA HELP NEEDED!

 ...
Mary Ellen MALOTT b.25 July 1864 Platte Co. MO d. 11 May 1924 Compton, Los Angeles Co. CA. m. 18 Dec 1881 in Compton, Los Angeles Co. CA. William Henry CARPENTER b.ca. 1855 Utica, NY. He was the son of Oliver R.  Carpenter and his wife Helen B. Pease b. 3 Sept 1833 NY who married Sept 11, 1854. Oliver Carpenter died in Compton, CA in 1881.
I found this excerpt on City of Compton History which mentions William H.  Carpenter: “By 1887, the settlers felt the need for improved local government.   They held a series of town meetings to discuss the possibility of incorporation. In January 1888, they forwarded a petition supporting the incorporation of Compton to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, who in turn forwarded the petition to the State Legislature. The petition named Thomas R. Dowles, William H. Carpenter, James J. Harsman, George H. Palmer and Randolph Sherer as members of the first City Council. The area to be incorporated included all the land one mile east and west of Wilmington Avenue (now Willowbrook Avenue), and from Greenleaf on the south to a quarter mile north of Rosecrans.
The City of Compton was officially incorporated on May 11, 1888.  The new city, with a population of 500 people, held its first City Council meeting on May 14,        1888 in the home of William H. Carpenter.”

Mary Ellen (Malott) and William Henry Carpenter had (there may have been more):

William Oliver CARPENTER b. 3 Nov 1888 Compton, Los Angeles Co CA d.               25 July 1949 Compton, Los Angeles Co. CA. m. 28 Jan 1919 in Compton, Los               Angeles Co CA, Hazel Josephine DORSETT. They had:
Arthur Paul CARPENTER b. 20 Oct 1919 d. 7 June 1990 Los Angeles                             CA (not sure this one, CA death records has mothers maiden name                             Dorsett)
Robert Vincent CARPENTER b. 1 May1921 Compton, Los Angeles Co.                             CA d. 11 Sept 1968 Los Angeles Co. CA

Lawrence Edward CARPENTER b. 1897 d. CA m. Bell Unknown b.ca. 1901               Massachusetts. In the 1920 census Lawrence Carpenter and his family are living in Compton, Los Angeles Co CA and he is working in a packing house. Their children:
             William CARPENTER b.ca. 1918 CA
             Mary E. CARPENTER b.1919 CA

My note: Mary Ellen Malott was the daughter of Lucinda Heath born Dec 1832 Cabell Co VA who married William Malott b.ca. 1830 VA. They were living in Platte Co. MO in 1860 where other Heath/Malott kin lived but moved out to Wilmington and Compton, Los Angeles Co CA. The children of William Malott and Lucinda 'Lucy' Heath were: Julie/Julia Malott b.ca. 1853 m. Carter, Elizabeth F. Malott b. 1859 m. George Haylock, Charles Malott, Jessie Fremont Malott m. Max N. Newmark, Mary Ellen Malott m. William Henry Carpenter, Susan E. Malott. Lucinda Heath, mother of the children was the daughter of James Heath and Chloe McComas who married in Cabell Co WV and moved on to Platte Co MO about 1839.

Elizabeth Henion

E-MAIL:   Mary C. Henion Carpenter d/o Joseph H. Henion and Elizabeth "Lizzie"
Date:  Fri, 30 Mar 2001 From:  "The Hahn Family"
I was checking my records for the Sussex Co., NJ, Henion line and have found
the parents of the above Mary and probably the Elizabeth in the info I
received the other night as a result of a PML Search Result for Henion.  I'm
not sure what PML search means but I receive it secondhand from the
administrator of the Ackerman/Hennion rootsweb site.
I copied and photographed gravestones at Sparta Presbyterian Church Cemetery
in Sparta, NJ, several years ago.  My records show that Joseph H. Henion b.
19 Dec 1848 and died 14 June 1895 married Elizabeth "Lizzie" who was born
1848 (census).  She does not appear to have been buried with Joseph unless
it was just not noted on the stone.
Three daughters are buried with Joseph as follows:  Mary C. (Henion)
Carpenter, Nettie Henion (d. age 2), and Emma Henion (d. age 2).
Mary C. (Henion) Carpenter b. 6 May 1869 d. 17 June 1912 bur. Sparta
Presbyterian Churchyard, as copied from gravestone.
Joseph and Lizzie also had a daughter Lizzie b. 1871 and apparently not
buried with her father.  This could be the Elizabeth Henion from your data.
I believe 1871 is from census records done by my fellow Hennion researcher
who lives in Utah.
I hope this is of interest to you.
Cheryl Hennion Hahn
