38928. Roy J. Harleston

OBITUARY.  Battle Creek Enquirer and News, Wednesday, May 14, 1997, p 4A.  Roy J. Harleston, 65, of Battle Creek, died Sunday, May 11, 1997, in Borgess Medical Center, Kalamazoo, after a two-month illness.  He was born Nov. 22, 1931, in Battle Creek, to Carl W. and Vera L. (Swartz) Harleston and graduated from Lakeview High School in 1951.  He was employed at Clark Equipment  from 1951 to 1958, the Springfield Police Department from 1958 to 1964 and Kellogg  from 1964 until retiring in October 1987.  He was also a school bus driver for Lakeview and Hastings schools.  He married Vivian L. Brott on Jan. 17, 1953.  She survives.  Also surviving are daughters, Brenda S. Dix of Kalamazoo, and Linda J. Harleston of Kingston, NY; and one granddaughter. Member of Moose Lodge 676 in Marshall.  Services 1:30 today at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home.  Entombment:  Memorial Park Cem..


Frank D. Burrows

OBITUARY.  Frank D. Burrows, 73, of Delton and formerly of Battle Creek, died Friday, Oct. 20, 2000, at home.  He was born Aug. 11, 1927, in Battle Creek to Frank J. and Ida (Benedict) Burrows.  He attended Delton Schools.  He served in the U.S. Army from Nov. 14, 1945 to Feb. 3, 1947, as a private first class.  He served in the Army of Occupation of Japan.  He was employed as a mechanic at three auto dealerships in Battle Creek before joining Clark Equipment   He was employed as a mechanic in the modification department for 18 years before the company closed.  He also was a part-time farmer at his farm in Barry Twp. in Barry County.  He married Gloria A. Eckler April 12, 1957, in Lansing.  She survives.  Also surviving are daughter Julie A. Nanninga of Battle Creek; two grandchildren; brother Louis Burrows of Banfield; and sister Florence Sharer of California.  Preceding him in death were a son, Frank W. Burrows, in December 1997, and sister, Margaret Holderman.  Member of the Eagle's Lodge and American Legion Post 298.  He enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing and part-time farming.  Visitation Monday at Richard A. Henry Funeral Home (Battle Creek).  Memorial service at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Ft. Custer National Cem. with Military honors.
