As early as 1806 he had joined the church of his father, the John Street
Episcopal and when about 19 years of age received from Freeborn Garretson his
first licence to exhort, and soon after he was licensed as a local preacher by
the Quarterly Conference in New York. His health was never good and caused him
to leave college and eventually led to his demise.

ministry may be found in Warriner's "Old Sands Street Church of Brooklyn, page

She was a gifted writer and her final illness from pneumonia lasted less
