Charles and his wife sold land at Flushing, LI to Isaac Peck on May 10, 1828
Per Jamacia Records.
As early as 1806 he had joined the church of his father, the John Street
Episcopal and when about 19 years of age received from Freeborn Garretson his
first licence to exhort, and soon after he was licensed as a local preacher by
the Quarterly Conference in New York.  His health was never good and caused him
to leave college and eventually led to his demise.
A portrait of him and an interesting biographical sketch of his life and
ministry may be found in Warriner's "Old Sands Street Church of Brooklyn, page
271, et cetera.  See also "Sacred Memories", by Rev. W. C. Smith.

He was a well known Episcopal clergyman, a man devoted to his work, an earnest
christian gentleman, beloved and honored by all.  He was rector of the church
at Wakefield, RI and at his home in this town he died.
After the death of James Carpenter, his daughter Esther continued the genealogy
research.

DEATH: IGI has death as: 18 JUN 1887 in South Kingston.

After the death of her father, Esther continued the genealogy
research.  Her contributions was a great help to the Daniel H. Carpenter.
She was a gifted writer and her final illness from pneumonia lasted less
than a week.  See notes on page 196 and 197 of the above record for more
details.
